Bulldogs sit in 11th place going into Day 2 in Hartford

SOUTH KENT, Conn. – The Bryant University men's golf team sits in 11th place at the end of Day 1 at the Hartford Hawks Invitational. Junior Nick Piersall (Portland, Conn.) leads the team in a tie for 26th place after the first two rounds.

Course: Hop Meadow Country Club (Simsbury, Conn.)
Par 72 (6,992 yards)

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Piersall finished the first day with a 1-over par 145 after carding a 73 in the first round and an even-par 72 in the second, giving him the highest finish of all the Bryant players.
  • Sophomore Tyler Hahn (Avon, Conn.) also registered an even-par 72 in the second round and a 2-over par 74 in the first round, putting him in 30th place after Day 1.
  • Senior Matthew Stafford (Suffield, Conn.) was the third highest finisher for the Bulldogs, ending the day in a tie for 57th place with an 8-over par 152 (75-77).
  • Freshman Jonah Klaasen (Westlake Village, Calif.) recorded a 10-over par 154 (75-79) and senior Connor Henderson's (Southborough, Mass.) 13-over par 157 (80-77) rounded out the team scoring for the first day.
  • Junior Doug Champagne (Bow, N.H.) and senior Mario Wilson (Taunton, Mass) played as individuals in the tournament. Champagne finished the day with a 11-over par 155 (78-77), while Wilson scored a 14-over par 158 (82-76).
