New Dawgs on the Block: 2023-24

The Bryant Men's Golf welcomes four new Bulldogs that will join the team for the 2023-24 season. This new incoming class for the Black and Gold features three freshman and one transfer.  They will join a lineup that returns 5 of the 6 golfers who competed at the Southland Conference Championship this past spring.

Let's Meet the New Bulldogs 

 

Class of 2027

Rocco Biafore, Wakefield, RI (St. George's School)

Rocco joins the Bulldogs as one of the top talents in New England in the 2023 recruiting class.  He was one of the top golfers in the ISL the last two seasons having garnered All ISL selections in 2022-23.  He has several high finishes in regional events including winning the 2021 Bay State Shootout, a runner-up at the 2022 Wampanoag Classic and reaching the semi-finals of the RI Jr Amateur.  This summer Rocco has continued his strong play with a run to the round of 16 at the RI Amateur and an 8th place finish at the RI Stroke Play Championship.  Rocco was selected to play for Team RI at the 2022 NE Jr Championships and represented Team New England in the US Challenge Cup New England-Florida Challenge.

 

Matt Downes, Kensington, CT (St Paul Catholic)

Matthew comes to Bryant as one of the top ranked golfers in CT from the high school class of 23'.  He was a 3x selection to the CT All State Team.  Matthew won both the CT Jr PGA Foundation Open and the Wampanoag Jr Classic in 2022.  He comes to Bryant after another high finish at the prestigious Northern Jr Championship a few weeks ago.

 

Matt Young, Atlanta GA (Westminster School, Atlanta)

Matthew enters his freshman campaign having been ranked as high as #63 in Golfweek and #157 on the AJGA/Rolex rankings for the Class of 2023.  He has 3 top 10 finishes in AJGA events including a T3 at the 2020 Stewart Cink Championship.  Matthew has 3 top 10 finishes on the Southern Jr Golf Tour including being the medalist at the Athens Classic.  He received GA 3A All State honors in 2022 and 2023.

 

Transfer

Dylan Gallagher, New York, NY (Franklin & Marshall) 

As a freshman Dylan helped lead the Diplomats to a DIII National Championship appearance.  He fired 8 rounds of par or better and finished the year with a 74.3 stroke average in a season that included 3 top 5 and 7 top 10 finishes.  He paced the Diplomats with a 23rd place finish at the National Championship.  Dylan rode his fine play into the summer earning a runner-up finish at the Long Island Amateur and qualifying for the Met Open.
