BRYANT SELECTED TO NCAA DIVISION II LACROSSE CHAMPIONSHIPS

INDIANAPOLIS-The NCAA Division II Men's Lacrosse Committee has selected the teams that will compete in the 2008 NCAA Division II Men's Lacrosse Championship.  The Bulldogs of Bryant University (14-3), champions of the Northeast-10 Conference, will travel to Le Moyne (14-1) on May 17 or May 18 for a semifinal matchup with the winner advancing to the national championship May 25 at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA.

Bryant, under the direction of second year coach Mike Pressler, will be making its first NCAA tournament appearance.  The Bulldogs have posted two wins over the Dolphins in the past two seasons including a 5-4 win Sunday in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship in Syracuse, NY.  The win ended Le Moyne's 25-game winning streak. Last year, Bryant defeated Le Moyne ending the Dolphins 72-game win streak.

The championship provides for a four-team tournament.  One team from each of the three regions (North, Central and South) and one at-large team from any region were selected to participate in the men's lacrosse championship.  Teams selected from the same region were paired for semifinal competition.  Semifinal competition is scheduled for Saturday, May 17, or Sunday, May 18.

The semifinal sites and team matchups are as follows:
North Region: *Le Moyne (14-1) vs. Bryant (14-3)
Central/South Regions: *NYIT (11-1) vs. Limestone (14-1)

This year's semifinal winners will advance to the final, which will be contested at 4:30 p.m. Eastern time, May 25, Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, and televised live by CBS College Sports Network.  That game will be preceded by the Division III championship at 1:30 p.m. Eastern time, also at Gillette Stadium and televised on CBS College Sports Network.  The Division I semifinals and championship are May 24 and 26 at the same site.

In the 2007 championship, Le Moyne College defeated Mercyhurst College 6-5 for its third Division II national title in four years.
