Gantz and Waldt chosen to partake in USILA North/South Game

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Following a 10-5 season, two wins over top-10 opponents and an appearance inside the top-20 for the first time since 2014, Bryant University men's lacrosse seniors Collins Gantz (Denver, Colo.) and Gunnar Waldt (Freeland, Md.) have been selected as participants in the 2016 USILA/Nike North/South Game.

The tandem was selected to play for the North in an exhibition that will be held on Friday, May 27 at Cabrini College in Radnor, Pa. Gantz and Waldt represent two of the seven players selected out of the Northeast Conference.

Gantz has been one of the most reliable midfielders for the Bulldogs over his career. Starting in 64 of the 69 games he appeared in, Gantz leaves Smithfield with 90 career points on 61 goals and 29 assists. In his senior campaign, Gantz tallied 15 points on 12 goals and three assists, including a career high four-goal effort against America East Conference champion Hartford on Feb. 27.

Waldt, the two-time team captain, two-time NEC Defensive Player of the Year, two-time NEC First Team selection, two-time USILA Third Team All-America selection, and two-time Tewaaraton Award Semifinalist will go down as one of the most successful netminders in program, league and NCAA history. He became Bryant's all-time leader in saves in 2016 (739) and finished his senior season with 165 saves, 11.00 per game which was 18th in the nation and tops in the NEC. He posted an 8.45 goals-against average to finish 12th in the country and second in the league and a 57.1 save percentage to finish eighth at the Division I level and also second in the conference. Waldt held the nation's top scoring offense in then No. 2/3 Brown to just 10 goals while turning away a season-best 17 shots in Bryant's 11-10 overtime win against its Ocean State rival on April 5.

The Bulldogs have had at least one player selected to the North/South Game in all eight seasons since joining the Division I ranks back in 2009.
