James, Mummau earn NEILA All-New England honors on field and in classroom

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Senior captains Tucker James (Essex Fells, N.J.) and Kyle Mummau (Carlsbad, Calif.) have been recognized for their prowess on the field and in the classroom, as the pair earned selections to both the NEILA All-New England Second Team and NEILA All-Academic Team late last week.

James became the first player in the program's Division I history to score 70 points in a season in 2017, leading the Bulldogs in goals (43), assists (27) and points (70). The senior captain and three-time All-NEC First Team selection led the Northeast Conference in scoring and ranked 26th nationally in points per game (3.68), also ranking in the nation's top-50 in goals per game (35th, 2.26), man-up goals (15th, 6) and assists per game (48th, 1.42).

This is James's second-consecutive All-New England selection, and the four-year starter leaves the program with the Division I records in points (226) and goals (141), ranking third all-time in both categories. James set a new program mark for career games started (73) and holds the Bulldogs' single-game records for points (13), assists (7) and shots (15).

A four-year starter and the team's top cover option throughout his career, Mummau earns his first NEILA All-New England selection after earning his third-straight All-NEC First Team honor in 2017. The captain anchored a Bryant defense ranked fifth in the nation at just 8.16 goals allowed and recorded career highs in ground balls (26) and caused turnovers (18) as a senior. A Senior CLASS nominee this season, the defenseman graduates 10th on the Bulldogs' all-time caused turnover list (46) and seventh in career games started (65).

James and Mummau also represent the Black and Gold on the NEILA Academic All-New England Team, comprised of graduating seniors with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better who were significant on-field contributors. A finance major, James graduates with a 3.12 GPA. A biology major with minors in business administration and biotechnology, Mummau graduates with a 3.75 GPA and was a nominee for Bryant's Scholar-Athlete of the Year. He is a four-time NEC Academic Honor Roll selection and qualified for Dean's List all eight semesters.

The Bulldogs earned their fifth NEC Tournament title and four NCAA tournament bid in 2017, advancing to the NCAA First Round against No. 1 Maryland.
