O'Rourke selected as NEC Rookie of the Week

SOMERSET, N.J. – Bryant University men's lacrosse freshman Marc O'Rourke (Hingham, Mass.) has been named Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for the week ending Feb. 11, as announced Monday by the NEC office.

O'Rourke made an immediate impact in his first two games in Black and Gold, beginning with a three-goal debut against Manhattan Feb. 3. O'Rourke added two assists and three ground balls while becoming the first Bryant freshman in the Bulldogs' Division I era to score three goals in his debut. Bryant won the opener 15-7 over Manhattan.

He followed the performance against the Jaspers with two goals, one assist and five ground balls in Saturday's game against Bucknell. For the year, O'Rourke ranks third nationally among Division I freshman in ground balls/game (4.00), seventh in goals/game (2.50) and 11th in assists/game (1.50).

Bryant returns to action Saturday with a game at Providence. The 1 p.m. game between the Bulldogs and Friars can be seen locally on Cox YurView (Channel 4 on Cox Cable.)
