Beimfohr named NEC Defensive Player of the Week

SOMERSET, N.J. – Bryant University men's lacrosse senior Kevin Beimfohr (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) has been selected as the Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 24, as announced Monday by the NEC office.

Beimfohr made his first appearance of 2019 in Saturday's win over Dartmouth, making 14 saves and holding the Big Green to five goals in a 6-5 victory. The senior from New Jersey turned aside a bid for the game-tying goal in the final second of the contest to seal the win. Beimfohr recorded a .737 save percentage in the victory that moved Bryant to 2-1 on the year.

The NEC weekly award is the third of the year for Bryant, as freshman Luke Caracciolo (Centreville, Va.) was named NEC Rookie of the Week Feb. 11 and Defensive Player of the Week Feb. 18. Junior Jake Fiske (Poway, Calif.) also earned an NEC Prime Performer honor this week with four ground balls and four caused turnovers in the win over Dartmouth.

Bryant is back in action Tuesday at 4 p.m. when the Bulldogs visit Boston University. The game can be seen on Patriot League Network.
