Bryant and Brown battle Tuesday for Ocean State Cup

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's lacrosse team wraps up its 2019 campaign Tuesday when the Bulldogs host Brown at Beirne Stadium for the Ocean State Cup.

Both teams picked up victories over Providence earlier this season to earn the right to play for an outright claim to the Ocean State Cup. A Bryant victory would mean a sweep of the men's and women's lacrosse trophies in 2019.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
Brown is 5-8 on the year and 2-3 in the Ivy League. The Bears' five victories have come against Quinnipiac, UMBC, Harvard, Princeton and Providence. Brown is 0-3 in one-goal games with losses to Virginia, Holy Cross and Villanova. 

Luke McCaleb leads the Bears with 29 goals and 46 points in 2019, while Darian Cook has added 24 goals and a team-high 20 assists. Phil Goss has started all 13 games in goal with a .505 save percentage.

THE SERIES
Bryant is 4-6 in the all-time series with Brown and picked up the largest win in the history of the series last year with a 17-9 victory in Providence. Marc O'Rourke (Hingham, Mass.), Tom Kennedy and Cam Ziegler recorded six points each in the win at Stevenson-Pincince Field. 

LAST TIME OUT: ROBERT MORRIS 20, BRYANT 16
Senior Ryan Cerino (Greer, S.C.) tied the Bryant D1 single-game record with six goals on Senior Day, but Robert Morris used a seven-goal first-half run and led the rest of the way in an offensive showdown at Beirne Stadium. 

CERINO DAY
Senior Ryan Cerino became the fifth player in Bryant's Division I era to score six goals in a game with his career-best performance Saturday. 

Zack Greer and Bryan Kaufmann scored six goals each March 19, 2009 against Sacred Heart and Greer duplicated the performance the next day against Detroit Mercy. Tucker James and Marc O'Rourke each recorded two six-goal efforts before Cerino added his name to the record book Saturday.

CUP OF COFFEY
Junior Zach Coffey (West Newbury, Mass.) collected a career-high eight ground balls in Saturday's game against Robert Morris while adding a caused turnover and his sixth goal of the year. 

WEINGARTEN STATE
Junior Trevor Weingarten (Allendale, N.J.) posted a career day against Robert Morris with three goals, four assists and five ground balls. Weingarten's 17 goals, 13 assists and 30 points all rank second on the team in 2019. 

SOME NUMBERS ON SATURDAY'S SHOOTOUT
» The 36 combined goals in Saturday's game between Bryant and Robert Morris were the most in a game in program history, surpassing the 35 scored in a 27-8 win over Franklin Pierce in 2007. 

» Saturday was the first time both the Bulldogs and their opponent scored 15 goals in a game since a 17-15 setback vs. No. 19 Albany in 2013.

» Bryant's 51 shot attempts were tied for the most since taking 53 in a win over No. 8 Harvard March 8, 2016.

» The Bulldogs' 45 ground balls were the highest total since collecting 48 in a win over Richmond March 29, 2014.
