Six Bulldogs earn All-NEC honors

EMMITSBURG, Md. – Six members of the Bryant University men's lacrosse team earned end-of-year awards from the Northeast Conference, as announced Wednesday by the NEC office.

Junior Zach Coffey (West Newbury, Mass.) and sophomore Marc O'Rourke (Hingham, Mass.) were honored as first team all-conference selections, redshirt-junior Jack Horan (San Rafael, Calif.) and junior Trevor Weingarten (Allendale, N.J.) were named to the all-conference second team and freshmen Mason Balch (Westfield, Mass.) and Luke Caracciolo (Centreville, Va.) were selected as all-rookie team honorees.

Coffey was named the first team selection at long stick midfielder after being named a second team honoree on defense in 2018. The junior recorded 34 ground balls, 12 caused turnovers and six goals on the year with the majority of his numbers coming in NEC play on 17 ground balls, seven caused turnovers and four goals in the six conference contests.

O'Rourke earned his second first team honor in as many years, leading the Bulldogs in goals (32), assists (21) and points (53). The sophomore scored in 13 of 14 games and three or more goals in six contests on the season. O'Rourke added 28 ground balls on the year and reached the 100-point mark for his career in April.

Horan collected his first career all-conference honor, starting all 14 games defensively with 23 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers. The redshirt-junior anchored a Bryant defense that held 10 of its 14 opponents to 11 goals or less and six to single digits. Horan was one of just two Bulldogs to start every game in 2019, joining O'Rourke.

Weingarten earned a second-team selection for the second consecutive season. The junior ranked second on the team in goals (20), assists (14) and points (34) with 19 of his points coming in the last five games of the season. Weingarten recorded three or more points six times on the year, including a seven-point performance vs. Robert Morris.

Balch ranked third on the Bulldogs in points (15), assists (11) and points (26) in his first campaign in Smithfield. The freshman scored a goal in all six conference games and in 10 of 14 contests on the season.

Caracciolo ranks in the top 10 nationally and first among freshmen with a 9.66 goals-against average and .569 save percentage. The Virginia native held six of his 10 opponents to 10 goals or less in his first year in Black & Gold.
