O'Rourke named Preseason Honorable Mention All-American by Inside Lacrosse

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Three-time All-Northeast Conference selection and Bryant University men's lacrosse graduate student captain Marc O'Rourke has been named a 2022 Inside Lacrosse Preseason Media All-America Honorable Mention.

The fifth-year attackman is one of just two players from the Northeast Conference to be recognized. Back for his final year of eligibility, O'Rourke is one of most feared offensive players in all of college lacrosse, having posted 3.88 points per game over his illustrious career. O'Rourke is the first Bulldog to earn preseason honors since Kyle Mummau in 2017.

O'Rourke is coming off a spectacular 2021 season despite playing in just five games due to complications from COVID-19. He made the most of the five games, however, averaging 5.0 points per game to help the Bulldogs win an NEC title and advance to the NCAA Tournament. O'Rourke finished with 21 goals and four assists, earned NEILA All-New England First Team honors.

The Hingham, Mass., native enters 2022 with a chance to join a short list of Bryant Lacrosse greats. He is currently one of just eight players all-time with 100+ career goals and one of nine all-time with 150+ career points. He has averaged 39.75 points per year but hasn't played a full season since 2019. Despite that, O'Rourke has produced 58 points in just 11 games (5.3 ppg) over the last two seasons.

Bryant opens its 2022 season on Feb. 12 when it travels to in-state rival Providence College.
