No. 19 Bulldogs fall to BU on Saturday

BOSTON, Mass. – Boston University outscored the No. 19 Bryant University men's lacrosse team 6-2 in the second half to earn a 13-8 victory on Saturday afternoon at Nickerson Field.

Saturday's game started in sunshine but a brief snow squall brought whiteout conditions to Nickerson Field in the third quarter. Bryant tied the game at 8-8 in the middle of the storm but the Terriers scored the final five goals to knock off the Bulldogs.

Bennett Abladian recorded his second-straight hat trick and Timmy Hackett added three points to lead the Bulldogs. Jacob Alexander went 12-for-24 at the X and collected eight ground balls.

  • Vince D'Alto broke an 8-8 tie with a goal at the 2:40 mark of the third quarter.    

How it Happened

  • BU and Bryant traded goals to start, with the Hackett tying the game at 3-3 with his first of the afternoon.
  • LaJhon Jones gave the Bulldogs a 4-3 lead after one with a near full-field goal. He collected the ball below his own restraining line and three seconds on the clock. Jones then rifled the ball towards the BU cage and it found the back of the net before time expired.
  • Back-to-back goals from Hackett and Abladian gave Bryant a 6-4 lead with 7:17 to go in the second quarter.
  • BU tied the game with goals 40 seconds apart and took a 7-6 lead to the break with a goal with just 11 seconds to go.
  • Aidan Goltz scored a man-up goal to tie the game at 7-7.
  • BU grabbed an 8-7 lead before a snow squall rolled into Boston. In near whiteout conditions, O'Rourke was able to tie the game.
  • The Terriers, however, would score the games final five goals to earn the victory.
