Bryant downs UMass Lowell, 20-4, Saturday night

LOWELL, Mass. – Timmy and Johnny Hackett combined for 12 points as the Bryant University men's lacrosse team raced past UMass Lowell, 20-4, on Saturday night in Lowell.

With the win, the Bulldogs are off to their best eight-game start in program history at 6-2. Bryant is also 2-0 to open America East play.

Timmy Hackett posted three goals and four assists for seven points, while Johnny potted four goals and added an assist. Aidan Goltz added three goals and an assist for four points. Nathan Laliberte won 14-of-18 faceoffs, had eight ground balls and scored twice.

  • Bryant scored twice in the first 70 seconds of the second quarter to pull away from the River Hawks.          

How it Happened

  • Bryant opened the scoring on a Johnny Hackett goal before UMass Lowell tied it up.
  • Bryant, however, scored the next nine goals to pull away. Johnny Hackett made it 2-1 before Timmy Hackett set up three-straight goals to end the quarter. Goltz, Johnny Hackett and Kevin Groeninger all scored goals in the stretch. 
  • Johnny Hackett then scored the first goal of the second quarter and Laliberte won the ensuing faceoff and raced down the field for the goal. 
  • Will Ronan made it 8-1 with his second-career goal, while Mason Drouin and Jack Lonsinger scored to make it 10-1.
  • Goltz completed his hat trick on a pass from John Tomsheck to make it 13-3, while Johnny set up brother Timmy to make it 14-4. 
  • Timmy Hackett completed his hat trick before the third quarter closed and Laliberte made it 17-4 with his second FOGO goal of the game.
