Alexander, Hackett lift Bryant past Binghamton, 14-10, on Saturday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Teagan Alexander tied his career-high with 18 saves and Johnny Hackett scored six goals to lift the Bryant University men's lacrosse team to a 14-10 victory over Binghamton on Saturday afternoon at Beirne Stadium.

With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 9-3 overall and 5-1 in the America East. Brynat honored its 17-member senior class prior to the game. 

Alexander was a brick wall against the league's second-ranked offense, stopping 18 shots. The Bulldogs were able to hold the Bearcats to their third-lowest offensive output of the season. 

Hackett paced Bryant's offense, posting six goals for the third time this season. Aidan Goltz and Nathan Laliberte each recorded two goals and an assist.

  • After Binghamton cut the deficit to 5-4, the Bulldogs scored four goals in less than three minutes to pull away.            

How it Happened

  • Binghamton got off on the right foot, scoring twice in the first three minutes to take an early lead.
  • Bryant answered with the next four goals to take a 4-2 lead after the first quarter. Johnny Hackett scored his first to get Bryant on the board.
  • The Bulldogs then scored three times in the final 3:23 of the quarter. Kevin Groeninger tied the game before Hackett completed his hat trick to make it 4-2.
  • Bryant and Binghamton traded goals to start the second quarter before the Bulldogs rattled off four goals in three minutes. 
  • Aidan Goltz scored off an assist from Laliberte and then Laliberte won the faceoff and raced down the field and scored to make it 7-4.
  • Goals from Timmy and Johnny Hackett made it 9-4 and Jack Lonsinger's lone goal of the afternoon made it 10-4 at the break.
  • Laliberte and Johnny Hackett then scored goals in the first two minutes of the third quarter to make it 12-4.
  • The Bearcats would score the final three goals of the quarter to make it 12-7.
  • John Tomsheck notched a goal midway through the fourth quarter before Binghamton potted two to make it 13-9.
  • Hackett's sixth of the afternoon made it 14-9 with 1:45 left.
