Bulldogs fall to Harvard on Tuesday night

CAMBRIDGE, MASS. – The Bryant University men's lacrosse team battled back from an early deficit, but Harvard would out score the Bulldogs down the stretch to win by a final score of 14-13 on Tuesday night at Jordan Field in Cambridge, Mass.

Jack Lonsinger and Johnny Hackett would each post hat tricks and combine for six goals for the Black and Gold. Hackett would also lead the team in assists on the evening with three.

Nathan Laliberte had a remarkable day at faceoff for Bryant, going 21-30 at the X. Laliberte also picked up 13 ground balls and scored his tenth career goal midway through the first quarter.

  • The Crimson would go 4-2 down the stretch to secure the victory.            

How it Happened

  • Harvard got the scoring under way early when Sam King connected with Blake Harv for a goal 30 seconds into the game.

  • After going down 3-0, Bryant would get on the board with a Johnny Hackett goal at the 9:28 minute mark.

  • After surrendering another goal, Nathan Laliberte would win the faceoff and get Bryant back on the board with a goal of his own to cut the deficit to two.

  • After ending the first quarter down 4-6, the Bulldogs would rally in the second and score the first two goals of the quarter which included Timmy Hackett's game tying score to even things at six.

  • The remainder of the half would see Bryant go on a 2-1 run and go into the half up one.

  • Coming out of the half, Bryant continued to show poise and had scores from Jack Lonsinger, Aidan Goltz, and Kevin Groeninger.

  • In the fourth quarter, Bryant would see Johnny Hackett and Patrick Walsh get on the board, however Harvard would score four which included the deciding goal from Miles Botkiss.

  • The shots were nearly even in the contest asHarvard outshot Bryant, 41-39.

  • The Bulldogs would convert 16-17 clear attempts.

  • Teagan Alexander recorded 15 saves in the loss.

  • Bryant had the ground ball advantage in the game winning 37 compared to Harvard's 29.

  • Johnny Hackett led the team in total points with six (3g, 3a). 

  • Luke Mead recorded a caused turnover; his third of the season.

  • Bryant falls to 1-2 in the all-time series against the Crimson.

  • Nathan Laliberte becomes the first Bulldog to win 20 or more faceoffs in a single game in over two years (Last Jacob Alexander (20-29) at Providence on Feb 12, 2022).

  • Through their past two games, Bryant is averaging 75% at the X.

  • Patrick Walsh recorded the third goal of his collegiate career; he has scored in every game he has appeared in.
