Hackett leads the charge as Dawgs down Manhattan

RIVERDALE, N.Y.. – The Bryant University men's lacrosse team got back into the win column on Saturday with a 12-7 victory over Manhattan College. With the win, the Black and Gold get back above .500 and snap their two game losing streak.

Johnny Hackett led the charge for the Bulldogs with 7 points (3g, 4a) and also picked up two ground balls.

Freshman Scott Einarson picked up his first collegiate win in goal after getting the start. Mason Drouin also had a standout game as he would score twice and record an assist in the contest.

  • The Bulldogs would score three straight goals down the stretch in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach.           

How it Happened

  • Manhattan's Kyle Gucwa got the scoring started in the game with a goal at 13:24 in the first.

  • Timmy Hackett would answer back with a score of his own to tie things at one and Patrick Walsh would give Bryant the lead to end the opening quarter of play.

  • Aidan Goltz would have a dominant second quarter for Bryant scoring two goals. Timmy Hackett and Mason Drouin also got in on the scoring and gave the Bulldogs a 6-4 lead going into halftime.

  • In the second half, Bryant would continue their offensive attack with Johnny Hackett scoring a man-up goal at 13:57 in the third.

  • Two minutes later, Jack Lonsinger would add a goal of his own to put Bryant up by four. 

  • Manhattan would score the next two goals of the quarter to cut the Bulldogs lead to two.

  • The fourth quarter would see Bryant pull ahead and put the game out of reach as Johnny Hackett would score two goals. Mason Drouin would also net his second score of the day and Dawson Rielly would score for the first time in his collegiate career.
