Men’s Lacrosse records thunderous win against UMass Lowell in rainy Saturday showdown

SMITHFIELD, R.I.. – The Bryant University men's lacrosse team cruised to a 17-2 conference victory against UMass Lowell this Saturday afternoon at Beirne Stadium. The Black and Gold improve to 5-3 overall on the season and move to .500 against America East opponents.

Jack Lonsinger shined in the midst of the monsoon, scoring 5 goals and recording 2 ground balls for the Bulldogs.  

Drew Lucas would collect 4 ground balls as well as cause 4 turnovers in the contest.

How it Happened

  • Bryant's scoring barrage would start early with Johnny Hackett finding the back of the net just after the 11 minute mark in the first.

  • Just 20 seconds later Bryant's Dawson Rielly would get on the board with a score of his own to increase the Bulldogs lead to two.

  • John Tomsheck would net a goal of his own at the 9 minute mark. The rest of the first quarter would see multiple goals from Jack Lonsinger (3) and Aidan Goltz (2).

  • The second quarter scoring would begin with Timmy Hackett scoring a hockey-style goal after a shot from his brother Johnny ricocheted off the post. 

  • After another score from Rielly, senior defenseman Will Milewski would go coast to coast to score the second goal of his collegiate career. 

  • Reilly would later assist Tiernan Lathrop in the quarter to give Bryant a 13-0 advantage entering the half.

  • Jack Lonsinger would get back in the scoring column in the 3rd quarter posting two goals for Bryant. Those goals would prove to be the only offense either team could generate in the third.

  • UMass Lowell would finally get on the board in the 4th quarter as Garrett Murphy would assist Johnny Soi at 11:47, Murphy would then record a goal of his own just 50 second later.

  • Bryant would close out the game with a pair of goals from freshmen Kyle Fedorcha and Patrick Walsh.

  • Bryant outshot UMass Lowell by a staggering 49-23 margin on Saturday.
