Men's Lacrosse hosts Vermont on Saturday afternoon

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's lacrosse team welcomes the University of Vermont to Beirne Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Faceoff is set for 12:00 p.m.

THE SERIES
This is the 8th all-time meeting between the Bulldogs and the Catamounts. Vermont has won the previous two meetings and leads the all-time series 4-3. Last season, Bryant fell to UVM by a final score of 13-12 in Burlington.  

SCOUTING THE CATAMOUNTS
Vermont started off the season 1-4 after a tough non-conference schedule to start the year. After a close win over UMass, they would start to heat up. They are currently 2-2 in conference play so far this year. The Catamount offense is led by Chalire Pope who leads the team with 31 goals. Jack Combs leads the defense with 20 caused turnovers. The starting goalkeeper for Vermont is George Egan. In 11 games played, he has made 129 saves and has a save percentage of .483.

BRYANT NOTES AND NOTABLES

  • Aidan Goltz recorded a hat trick which included the game winning goal last Saturday at UAlbany. He also tallied an assist.

  • Kevin Groeninger had another impressive game following his return from injury. The fifth year attack recorded a line of 4g, 1a last week.

  • Bryant is top five in the nation for faceoff win percentage, ground balls per game, and scoring defense.

  • Nathan LaLiberte leads the NCAA in faceoff win percentage amongst individuals (.662) and is fifth in ground balls per game (8.90).

  • The Bulldogs are 3-0 lifetime at home against UVM.

  • Bryant's 3 game win streak is their longest of the season.
