Larente earns NEC weekly honors

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University men's soccer freshman keeper Olivier Larente (Garches, France) has been named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday.

In his first collegiate game, Larente made four stops in Bryant's 1-1 tie against defending NEC champion LIU Brooklyn on Friday. The freshman made his biggest save in the 75th minute when he made a sliding stop to keep the game tied 1-1. The Blackbirds' Romario Guscott got free down the middle of the pitch and just got into the box. He sent a right-footed shot on net, but Larente slid forward and knocked the ball away. He made a diving save with just 13 seconds left in the second overtime to preserve the draw.

The Bulldogs return to action on Friday when they take on Fairleigh Dickinson at 6:00 p.m. on the road.
