Bulldogs shave their heads in support of St. Baldricks

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – With the help of Sport Clips in Lincoln, the Bryant University men's soccer team took part in shaving their heads on Wednesday, Nov. 30, to raise money and support for the St. Baldrick's Foundation.

Organized by senior midfielder Pedro-Lucas Ferreira (East Boston, Mass.), the team launched their page on the St. Baldrick's website on Saturday, Nov. 26. All 28 members of the team took part in supporting in some way, either by making donations or shaving their heads.

The initial goal was to raise $1,000, but by the second day of the site being live, the team had already surpassed that goal. As of Nov. 30, the team had raised over $3,100 and nearly each member of the team shaved their heads to support the cause and help raise awareness.

St. Baldrick's Foundation helps raise money for childhood cancer, as various teams, universities and organizations around the country partake in these head-shaving events each year.

The program also showed its support for the cause in 2012, as fifth-year seniors Matt Guerriero (Pickering, Ont.), Jake Lamar (New Haven, Conn.) and Kevin Zemaitis (Braintree, Mass.) partook in raising awareness.
