Bulldogs add nine NLIs to class of 2021

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- The Bryant University men's soccer team and head coach Seamus Purcell are pleased to announce the class of 2021. 

The four-man class features a pair of talented offensive players, a skilled keeper and a defender whom are all eager to step in and help the Bulldogs get back to the NEC Tournament for the first time in two seasons.  

 

Felipe Cypriano | 5-11 | 155 | M/F | Malden, Mass. / Malden High School

Three-year varsity letterwinner and starter for coach Jeremiah Smith, as he just played for his club team, FC Boston Bolts Academy in his senior year … Team was MIAA North Semifinalist in 2013, 2014 and 2015 … Team was the Greater Boston League champs in 2014 and 2015 … 2013 tied for the deepest playoff run in MHS Boys Soccer history reaching the North Semifinals … 2014 was the first undefeated regular season in MHS Boys Soccer history (16-0-2) and the second GBL title in school history … Named a GBL All-Star in 2014 and 2015 … Named an Eastern Mass. All-Star in 2015 … Club team went 25-1-2 in 2015 and were the EDP League & Cup champions.

 

Jared Lee | 5-11 | 170 | F | South Setauket, N.Y. / Ward Melville High School

Four-year varsity member and three-year starter under coach John Stecker … Made the Suffolk League 1 playoff in his first three years … All Conference in 2014, 2015 and 2016 … All County in 2015 and 2016 … Named the Newsday Player To Watch in 2015 and 2016 … Earned the 2013-14 NYSPHYSAA Academic Award … Played for the club team Lake Grove-Newfield Rampage.

 

 

 

John Gallagher | 6-1 | 185 | GK | Safety Harbor, Fla. / Palm Harbor University High School

Four-year varsity soccer and two-year starter for coach Wipoj Huse … Team finished 15-2 and made it to the FHSAA - 5A District 7 playoffs as well as the state finals in his senior year … Helped lead high school team to an undefeated district (6-0) record in 2016-17 season ... Played for the club team Tampa Bay United Soccer Club in the FSPL league.

 

 

 

Matthew Kane | 6-0 | 160 | D | Lincoln, R.I. / La Salle Academy

Starting defender and four-year varsity letterwinner under head coach Mario Pereira … Division I RIIL champions three of his four years, state champions as a freshman and junior and state semi-finals as a sophomore and senior … Freshman and Junior year teams went undefeated with a combined 33-0-1 record … 2015 Second Team All Division … Named a captain as a senior … First-Team All Division, First Team All-State, State Championships All-Tournament Team and All New England Selection in 2016 … R.I.S.C.A. 2016 Division 1 RIIL Player of the Year ... Played for the club team Bayside FC .. National Honor Society and honor roll student all four years. 

 

 

Anthony Barreira | 6-0 | 170 | F/M | Foxboro, Mass. / Foxborough

A four-year starter at Foxborough High School ... Finished his career with 44 goals and 26 assists ... Two-time varsity captain and team leader in points ... Two-time Eastern Mass. All-Star ... Two-time Hockomock League All-Star ... Two-time Sun Chronicle All-Star ... Two-time Hock Sports Best XI team ... Named team MVP as a senior ... Team Offensive MVP as a junior after leading league in goals and finishing second in points (25 goals, 17 assists) ... Hock Sports All-Star Game MVP as a junior ... Helped Foxborough win the Hockomock League title for the first time in 22 years as a sophomore ... Played his club soccer for FC Stars ... Helped FC Stars win the Mass. State Title, the New England Regional Title and the US Club Soccer National Title in 2015 ... Honor Roll student.

 

Charles DeSantis | 6-2 | 180 | M | Saint-Mathias-Sur-Richelieu, Quebec / Champlain College

A two-time captain at Champlain College ... Named to the All-RSEQ Team in 2015 ... Nominated for the golden shoes at Soccer Federation of Quebec in the category Senior AAA ... Helped Champlain College finish fourth at the Collegial Canadian Championships in 2015 ... Won a gold medal at the U18 Canadian Championships ... Team Quebec selection in U16 and bronze medalist at the National Canadian Championship. 

 

John Amaya | 5-8 | 160 | D/M | Rye, New York / Rye

A two-year starter at Rye High School before joining the U.S. Soccer Development Academy as a junior and senior ... An All-Section, All-State and Section 1 All-Star game participant as a freshman and sophomore ... A player in the 50 IMG Player Pool in 2017 ... U.S. Soccer Development Academy Starter ... Traveled to Sweden and Denmark, playing against various professional youth club teams from Argentina, Sweden, Denmark, Spain, etc. ... Rated 2 Stars on Top Drawer Soccer ... High honor roll student.

 

Mateo Toti | 5-8 | 170 | M | Rome, Italy / Liceo Martino Filetico

A five-year starter attacking midfielder at Liceo Martino Filetico, including a postgraduate year … A member of the Frosinone Calcio "Primavera" (Youth League of Series A/B division in the Italian National Tournament), appearing in 44 games to record the second-most minutes played in the history of the league.  

 

Richard Murray | 5-11 | 170 | M | Lake Tahoe, Calif. / Great Baddow

Four-year varisty midfielder at Great Baddow High School ... Also lettered in cross country ... Helped his team win the Golden Valley Conference as a junior, reaching the California final four in the same season ... In 2016, aided his team to second place in the Golden Valley Conference, finishing his senior season in the top-32 in assists in California.
