Bulldogs drop match with Fordham

BRONX, N.Y. – The Bryant University men's soccer team was not able to crack the Fordham defense, and the Rams' lone goal was enough as Bryant fell 1-0 on Saturday afternoon in the Bronx.

Game Information

Fordham 1, Bryant 0

Records: Fordham 6-2-1, Bryant 0-7

Location: Bronx, N.Y.

Coach Purcell's Comments

"Fordham were a very talented and well-coached team. Offensively we found it very difficult to get into our rhythm and break them down. Defensively the team worked extremely hard all game. Nick Stewart (South Windsor, Conn.) made two or three outstanding saves to keep it close and give us a chance, unfortunately we didn't capitalize on our opportunities."

Key Moment

  • In the 71st minute, the Rams build up on the right flank created an opportunity in the box for Janos Loebe, who was able to beat Stewart.

Scoring Summary

  • 71st minute – Fordham 1, Bryant 0 – Loebe tallied his fifth of the season from 15 yards out in the middle of the box after a long build up by the Rams on the right side of the field.

Stats/Notes

  • Anthony Barreria (Foxboro, Mass.) recorded the first shot of his career.
  • In both of his appearances this season, Jared Lee (South Setauket, N.Y.) has gotten in on the offensive action, recording a shot.
  • Stewart recorded five saves in the match, the second-highest total for him this season.
