Bulldogs fall to LIU Brooklyn

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's soccer team was able to battle hard, but ultimately fell to LIU Brooklyn in the Big Apple Friday night.

Coach Purcell's Comments

"It was a very tough loss for us. It wasn't our best performance but our effort and drive was there. We fell asleep on one set play and that's all good teams need to score."

  • Off a throw-in restart, LIU was able to play it to the far side, where Filip Nordstrom crossed in a ball that found the head of Chris Solbakken, who headed it into the net.

  • 54th minute – LIU Brooklyn 1, Bryant 0 -- Nordstrom was open on the right side and able to fire a ball in and Solbakken rose above the Bulldogs defense to head it home and give the Blackbirds the lead.

  • Freshman Jared Lee (South Setauket, N.Y.) led Bryant with three shots and two on goal.
