Bryant fights to scoreless draw with CCSU on Senior Day

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – In the final game of the 2017 season, the Bryant University men's soccer team played to a scoreless draw with Central Connecticut on Senior Day Friday at the Bulldog Soccer Field.

Game Information

Central Connecticut 0, Bryant 0 (2OT)

Records: Central Connecticut 5-8-4 (2-3-2 NEC), Bryant 2-10-3 (2-3-2 NEC)

Location: Bulldog Soccer Field

Coach Purcell's Comments

"I'm obviously disappointed. It was our last game at home and I wish we could've won it for the seniors. I don't think it was our best performance. The second half we did much better and overtime was 50/50. The five [seniors] have been tremendous on and off the field. They all work hard, they don't complaint and they went out and did their jobs well when called upon. It was probably one of the nicest classes we've had. I'll miss them dearly.

Key Moment

  • Felipe Cypriano (Malden, Mass.) had a chance for the Bulldogs late in the second overtime, but it was redirected in front of goal, making for an easy save for the Blue Devils keeper.

Scoring Summary

  • No goals

Stats/Notes

  • The Bulldogs finished their season unbeaten in three straight matches at the Bulldog Soccer Field.
  • Bryant's 17 shots were the highest total the team put up in 2017.
  • Their seven corners were the second-highest total of the season.
  • The Bulldogs defense held teams to one goal or less in 12 of the 15 total games this year, including each of the final 10.
