Bryant's 50th season starts Friday in Washington, D.C.
SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's soccer team kicks off its 50th season in program history on Friday afternoon when they trek to the nation's capital to take on Howard.

The Series
This is the first meeting in program history between the two schools.
Bulldogs Notes and Notables
- The Bulldogs are coming off a 2-10-3 regular season in 2017, going 2-3-2 in conference play.
- This is the first of eight road games for the Black and Gold in 2018.
- Bryant is looking to carry over its late-season defensive form from 2017 when they allowed a 0.67 goals-against average in the final 10 games of last season.
- Junior Olivier Larente (Garches, France) is slated to start in net for Bryant. In five starts his freshman season, he tallied a 1.28 goals-against average. He only made one start last season.
- Senior Charlie Booth (Concord, Mass.) and junior George Gill (Cork, Munster, Ireland) are the captains for the 2018 season, as tabbed by head coach Seamus Purcell during preseason.
A bit about Howard
- The Bison are coming off a 2-15-3 regular season in 2017, with a winless conference season at 0-3-2. The team made a trip to the Sun Belt Conference semifinals before dropping out to eventual champion Coastal Carolina.
- Howard played five Northeast Conference opponents last year and was defeated in all five of them.
- The team was selected to finish fifth in the Sun Belt Conference this season. Junior goalkeeper Carlos Caro was tabbed Preseason All-Conference by the league's head coaches.
