Bulldogs to play Labor Day Matinee in Amherst Monday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – A Labor Day matinee is on tap for the Bryant University men's soccer team, as they head to Amherst, Mass. to take on Massachusetts on Monday.

The Series

This is the first-ever meeting between the Bulldogs and the Minutemen.

Bulldogs Notes and Notables

Bryant suffered a late, 2-1 defeat at the hands of Brown on Friday. The Bulldogs carried a 1-0 lead into the 80th minute but were stunned with two late strikes from the Bears.

Sophomore Charles DeSantis (Saint-Mathias-Sur-Richelieu, Quebec, Canada) scored his first career goal in the 48th minute of the match off a volley that he created by beating a defender.

DeSantis has the most shots for the Bulldogs this year with six, but redshirt-sophomore Antonio Terceros (Toronto, Ontario) has the most shots on frame with three.

Junior Olivier Larente (Garches, France) has a 2.67 goals-against average in 270 minutes in net, accumulating 13 saves on the season.

A bit about the Minutemen

UMass is coming off their first win of the season, scoring a pair of second-half goals in a 2-1 defeat of Saint Peter's on Friday afternoon.

They are in the midst of a four-game stretch of games in Massachusetts, with the lone road match being at Boston University on Friday night.

UMass played to a draw against NEC foe Sacred Heart on Monday at 1-1 and also has a loss on their record to UMass Lowell on opening night.

Davis Smith is the leader for the Minutemen with three points on his 2018 resume. Jack Fulton and DeAndrae Brown have also chipped in goals.

After not starting the season opener, Trey Miller has played all 200 minutes in the last two matches for UMass, accumulating a 0.90 goals-against average and .750 save percentage.
