Bryant off to New Jersey to continue unbeaten streak

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Fresh off an unbeaten weekend in conference play, the Bryant University men's soccer team continues its NEC slate on Friday night when they head to Fairleigh Dickinson.

The Series

In what has been an even series, the Knights have the edge with four wins to Bryant's three, with two draws. Last season, senior Derek Blanchette (Lincoln, R.I.) and sophomore Anthony Barreira (Foxborough, Mass.) tallied goals in a 2-0 win over FDU. Junior Olivier Larente (Garches, France) made nine saves in the 2016 edition, which currently sits in the Top 10 all-time for most saves in Bryant history.

Bulldogs Notes and Notables

  • Three Bulldogs are tied atop the team leaderboard, with sophomores Jared Lee (South Setauket, N.Y.) and Antonio Terceros (Toronto, Ontario), along with freshman Ben Williams (Unionville, Ontario) sitting with four points on the year.
  • Sophomore midfielder Charles DeSantis (Saint-Mathias-Sur-Richelieu, Quebec, Canada) has added three points on the season for Bryant.
  • Bryant has scored in three of their four games away from home this season.
  • After posting back to back clean sheets, Larente's goals-against average has dropped to 1.84 with a .643 save percentage on the season.

A bit about the Knights

  • Fairleigh Dickinson comes in with just one conference match under their belt, a scoreless draw with new conference member Mount St. Mary's on Friday night in Emmitsburg.
  • The Knights outshot the Mountaineers 21-6, including 4-0 in the overtime, and held an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks, but were not able to find a winner.
  • Ahu Obhakhan paves the way for FDU with five of the team's nine goals on the season. Jacob Labovitz is second on the team leaderboard with five points.
  • Jahmali Waite has started eight games for FDU this season, recording a 1.18 goals-against average and .744 save percentage on the campaign.
