After two-goal weekend, Williams earns pair of NEC honors

SOMERSET, N.J. – Two goals in a weekend earned two awards for Bryant University men's soccer freshman Ben Williams (Unionville, Ontario), who was named Northeast Conference Co-Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week by the league Tuesday afternoon.

Williams scored the team's lone goals in both Friday's 1-1 draw with Mount St. Mary's and Sunday's 1-0 win over Sacred Heart, using his head on both. He put home a cross from junior James Cochrane (Sandy Hook, Conn.) to ensure at least a point against the Mountaineers Friday while securing all three by putting home sophomore Felipe Cypriano's (Malden, Mass.) in the 74th minute of the win over the Pioneers.

The freshman earned his first Player of the Week honor in his Bryant career while increasing his Rookie of the Week total up to three on the year. He currently leads the Bulldogs with four goals and a total of 10 points, with seven of those coming in conference play.

The Bulldogs are back in action this weekend, as they welcome first-place LIU Brooklyn for a 1 p.m. kickoff on Sunday afternoon at the Bulldog Soccer Field. Senior Day ceremonies will begin at 12:45 p.m.
