Playoff spot on the line for Bryant Saturday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's soccer team will be playing for its first postseason berth since 2014 on Saturday afternoon when they head to New Britain, Conn.

The Bulldogs control their own destiny in the match, with a win qualifying them for next weekend's Northeast Conference Championships.

The Series

The Bulldogs have won six of the 13 meetings in a series that dates back to 1982. Central has won five of those, with a pair of draws. Last year's meeting played to a scoreless finish in Smithfield on Senior Day.

Bulldogs Notes and Notables

  • Bryant's last postseason trip was in 2014, when it made a trip to the conference semifinals.
  • The Bulldogs are unbeaten in all three of their conference road matches this season, with wins at Sacred Heart and Fairleigh Dickinson and a draw at Mount St. Mary's.
  • Freshman Ben Williams (Unionville, Ontario) has 10 points on his 2018 resume, with seven of them coming in conference play. He has scored goals in each of Bryant's NEC matches on the road.
  • Sophomores Antonio Terceros (Toronto, Ontario) and Jared Lee (South Setauket, N.Y.) have each scored two goals during the campaign.
  • The Bulldog defense has recorded a 0.40 goals-against average in conference play this season, a mark that is atop the NEC. Bryant has allowed just three goals in 670 minutes of NEC play.
  • Junior Olivier Larente (LaSalle, Montreal, Canada) has recorded a .900 save percentage in conference play. His overall stat line contains a 1.34 goals-against average and .727 save percentage in 13 starts this season.

A bit about the Blue Devils

  • Central Connecticut enters its final match of the season with a 1-12-1 record and 1-6 slate in conference play.
  • CCSU's only win on the season came in Moon Township, Pa., defeating the Colonials 1-0. The Blue Devils' latest match was a 5-1 loss at the hands of Sacred Heart last Friday.
  • Senior Louis Beddouri leads the Blue Devils with seven goals to his name this season. Freshman Noah Silverman has two goals and an assist on the year.
  • Graduate student Carson D'Ambrosio has recorded a 2.16 goals-against average and .682 save percentage this season for Central Connecticut.

    • It ends up in any three-way tie combination that is NOT RMU and SFBK.
  • A loss AND…
    • St. Francis Brooklyn tying their last two matches AND a FDU loss OR
    • Robert Morris tying or losing AND FDU losing
