Dawgs earn first conference win in 5-0 over NJIT

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - On Sunday evening, the Bryant University men's soccer team grabbed their first America East win in program history by taking down NJIT 5-0.

  • 24th minute - Bryant 1, NJIT 0 - Junior Marc Pitarch Bayot received a ball on the right wing. He then dribbled into the 18-yd box and beat a defender before playing a ball across the 6-yd box. Javi Gonzalez was making the front post run and flicked the ball past the keeper to put the Black and Gold ahead.
  • 47th minute - Bryant 2, NJIT 0 - Javier Soler Gandia picked the ball off the NJIT defense and dribbled into the box. He then was able to get the ball to Pitarch who sent the keeper the wrong way, leaving him to slot the ball into the lower right corner.
  • 54th minute - Bryant 3, NJIT 0 - Adrian Camcho dribbled the ball from half field into the box. He decided it was his ball to keep and proceeded to cut in on two defenders and finish the ball into the lower left corner of the net.
  • 66th minute - Bryant 4, NJIT 0 - Pitarch collected a long ball from the defense on the left wing and made his way into the attacking third. He then cut the ball back to Inigo Villaldea at the top of the 18-yd box. Villaldea took one touch and shot the ball into the lower left corner past the outstretched keeper.
  • 78th minute - Bryant 5, NJIT 0 - Vicente Valor Martines played a long ball on the ground to Luis Fernando Paúl. Paúl ran onto the ball and cut it back around a defender in the box. He played the ball to Santiago Blasco Gomez who set himself up with two touches and blasted a curling ball into the lower right corner from 20 yards out.

  • The win moves the Bulldogs into fifth place in the America East standings.
  • Five different players scored for the Black and Gold with seven registering at least a point.
  • Marc Pitarch had a team high four points on the day. He tallied a goal, his sixth of the season, and two assists.
  • Villaldea's goal was his fifth of the season while Camacho's was his third.
  • Javi Gonzalez and Santiago Blasco Gomez both netted their first goals in a Bryant uniform.
  • The Bulldogs outshot NJIT 18-2.
  • Antreas Hadjigavriel only had to make one save in the game.
