Bulldogs punch ticket to America East Championship

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Bryant University men's soccer team punched their ticket to the America East Championship on Wednesday night with a 3-1 over Binghamton.

This will be the first time since 2018 that the squad has made it to a conference championship match.

Scoring Summary

  • 23rd minute - Bryant 1, Binghamton 0 - Pablo Ablanedo found a wide open Adrian Camacho on a cut back from the outside of the 18-yard box. Camacho took a touch to set himself up and then curled the ball with his left foot past the outstretched keeper into the left side of the goal.
  • 39th minute - Bryant 2, Binghamton 0 - Jonas Lyshoj sent a curling cross into the box from the right wing that found the head of Javier Soler Gandia. In typical Soler fashion, he headed the ball home to double the Black and Gold lead.
  • 54th minute - Bryant 3, Binghamton 0 - After drawing the free kick just outside the box, Inigo Villaldea took the kick himself and curled it into the lower right corner with his right foot to pick up the third goal of the night.
  • 76th minute - Bryant 3, Binghamton 1 - Binghamton defender Michael Bush sent a long throw-in into the box which found the head of Will Noecker. Noecker then knocked the ball onto Calvin Moe who back-heeled the ball into the Bryant net.

Notes and Notables

  • This is the furthest the Bulldogs have advanced in conference playoffs since joining the America East.
  • Villaldea's goal brings his season total to seven while Soler's brings his total to six. Camacho now has five goals on the campaign
  • Lyshoj's assist was his third on the year.
  • Ablanedo's assist was his first of the season and of his Black and Gold career.
  • Wednesday's game was the largest home crowd Bryant has had for a men's soccer game in their program history.
