BRYANT MEN’S SWIMMING NAMES 2010 TEAM CAPTAINS

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University head swimming coach Katie Cameron is pleased to announce the 2010-11 team captains as voted on by the members of this year’s returning class:  senior Matthew Derwin (Cheshire, Conn. / Cheshire) and junior Alex Kosenski (Lavalette, N.J. / Point Pleasant Beach)

Derwin, a team leader and key member of the men’s swim program for the past three seasons, posted several top-5 finishes in several events in helping the Bulldogs to a 12th place finish at the ECAC Championships in Pittsburgh last February. Derwin’s 100 butterfly time of 54.64 at URI in December was the third-fastest time this season for the Bulldogs.  At the same meet, the Bulldog also swam a great time of 5:13.05 in the 500 free.

Kosenski had an incredible sophomore season last winter, swimming the fastest time on the team in three different events, but perhaps saved his best for the ECAC Championships.  At the meet, Kosenski set a new school record in the 100 freestyle with a fifth-place finish in the prelims in 46.60 seconds and also set a new record in the prelims of the 200 meters where he finished fifth.

The Bryant will return its entire team that posted wins over NJIT twice and Holy Cross and had strong showings at the University of Rhode Island Invitational.  A
