Bulldogs drop season opener to Boston College

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Boston College set four pool records on its way to a, 163-96, victory over the Bryant University men's swimming and diving team on Friday night at the Chace Athletic Center.

The Bulldogs (0-1) and Eagles (1-0) were both swimming for the first time in 2015-16. BC now has won all eight meetings between the two schools.

Sophomore Ben Schulte (Tumon, Guam) gave the Black and Gold their only first place finish of the night, winning the 200 free with a time of 1:45.89. Schulte also finished second in the 100 breast and the 200 IM.

Bryant did receive strong performances from its freshmen class. Charlie Broe (New Windsor, N.Y.) finished second in the 500 free and third in the 1000 free. Tavish Boyle (Springfield, N.J.) finished second in the 200 breast, third in the 100 breast and third in the 200 IM. Shane Vyskocil (Parsippany, N.J.) claimed a second-place finish in the 200 fly and a third-place finish in the 200 breast.

Boris Paraliticci (Saunderstown, R.I.) also enjoyed a strong performance, finishing second in the 100 fly.

The Bulldogs return to the pool next Saturday, Oct. 17 at NJIT.
