Schulte takes home gold in 200 IM on day two of MAACs

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Junior Ben Schulte (Tumon, Guam) won a gold medal in the 200 IM to highlight the second night of the 2017 MAAC Swim & Dive Championships for the Bryant University men's swimming and diving team.

The Bulldogs have posted 171.5 points in the first two days and currently sit in fourth place. Rider is in first place with 253 points, Marist is in second with 201 points and Canisius is in third with 178 points.

Schulte flexed his dominance in the 200 IM, winning gold in the event for the third-straight year. He touched the wall with a time of 1:49.62, less than a second ahead of the second place swimmer. Tavish Boyle (Springfield, N.J.) finished 10th in the event with a time of 1:53.66.

Junior Colin Curtin (Wethersfield, Conn.) finished sixth in the 500 free with a time of 4:34.55. Freshman Robert Davis (Glastonbury, Conn.) finished ninth in the event with a time of 4:36.31.

Bryant also received finals appearances from Zachary Hannon (Marlborough, Conn.) and Boris Paraliticci (Saunderstown, R.I.) in the 50 free. Hannon finished 13th and Paraliticci placed in a tie for 14th.
