Mays honored with second MAAC Swimmer of the Week Award

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – After winning all three of his individual events this weekend, freshman Matthew Mays (St. Croix, Virgin Islands) was honored with his second Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week award, the league announced Wednesday.

Mays took home individual victories in the 100 fly (52.29), 200 fly (1:53.70) and 400 individual medley (4:11.64), improving his record to 14-0 in those races this season. The freshman also helped the Bulldogs win two relays en route to their sweep of NJIT and Saint Peter's over the weekend, competing on Bryant's 400 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay teams.

He has emerged as an early leader in the pool for the Black and Gold, registering the top times in the 100 back, 200 back, 100 fly, 200 fly and 400 individual medley.

This is the second honor for Mays this season, making him the first Bulldog in the program's history to win multiple MAAC Weekly Honors during a single campaign.

The Bulldogs have this weekend off before they compete in the Harold Anderson Invitational November 17 and 18 at the University of Rhode Island.
