Bulldogs set to compete in Harold Anderson Invitational

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's swimming and diving team takes part in the first of two large invitationals this weekend when they head to Kingston, R.I. to take part in the 22nd annual Harold Anderson Invitational.

Last Time Out

The Bulldogs enjoyed a weekend off after starting the month of November with dominating wins over NJIT and Saint Peter's. Freshman Matthew Mays (St. Croix, Virgin Islands) stayed perfect in individual events, winning all three of his races, along with fueling the winning team in two relays. Senior Ben Schulte (Tumon, Guam) also won all five of his races.

Last Time at the Harold Anderson Invite

The Bulldogs finished third in last year's invitational, wrapping up the two-day competition with 722.5 points. Kevin Sullivan (East Lyme, Conn.) won the 3-meter dive while finishing second in the 1-meter. Robert Davis (Glastonbury, Conn.) won the 1650 free and finished third in the 500 free.

A bit about the competition

  • Holy Cross
    • The Crusaders are an even .500 on the season with both a win and a loss coming in the month of October.
    • In their 158.5-122.5 win over Fairfield, three Crusaders took home multiple wins: freshman Nathan Kramer, junior Steve Tierney, and senior Jake Sbarbaro.
    • Sbarbaro holds a Holy Cross record time in the 400 IM event of 4:11:11.
  • Maine
    • Freshman Jack McNamara was named the swimmer of the meet following his two first-place finishes in the 200 butterfly and the 200 IM, and a second place finish in the 100 butterfly.
    • Connor LaMastra finished in first place in three events in their meet against Dartmouth, winning the 200 IM, 200 fly and 500 free.
  • Providence
    • The Friars are 1-2 on the season, with a loss to Bryant and Iona, and their only win coming against Fairfield.
    • Sophomore Patrick Brannigan broke the men's 50-meter freestyle school record with a time of 23.88.
    • Junior Ryan Trammell took home two first-place finishes in the meet, with one in the 100 breaststroke and another in the 200 breaststroke.
