Wong, Mays Lead Men at WPI

Worcester, MA- The Bryant swimming and diving team captured overall victory at the WPI Gompei Invitational over the weekend. They scored a total of 7779 points, finishing ahead of WPI in second and Rowan University in third. FuKang Wong headed the men's efforts along with Matthew Mays. They combined for seven individual wins and four relay victories.

 

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • Wong picked up individual wins in the 100 breast, 200 breast, and 100 IM. His time of 54.57 in the 100 breast set a WPI pool record, and his swim in the 100 IM headed a 1-2 for Bryant, along with Connor Lofstrom. Wong also contributed to wins in the men's 200 and 400 medley and 400 free relays, as well as the mixed 200 medley relay.

  • Mays won individually in the 50 and 200 backstroke events and the 200 IM. He was also on the victorious men's 200 and 400 medley and 400 free relay teams. His 200 back victory was also a 1-2 finish for the Bulldogs, with Griffin Lajoie coming in second.

  • Calvin Groenewold also picked up a win on the men's side, capturing first in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 26.70.

  • Bryant totaled ten event wins on the men's side, as well as a mixed relay win.
