Bulldogs fall to UMass

AMHERST, MA. - The Bryant University men's swimming and diving team were defeated by the UMass Minutemen by a score of 172.5-115.5 on Saturday.

Juniors Leo Luna and Griffin Lajoie both continued their run of form in their respective events and picked up two wins each on the day.

Notes and Notables

  • Leo Luna won the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 9:37.01. The junior beat out the second place finisher by just over 18 seconds. Luna also picked up a victory in the 500 yard freestyle by racing a 4:41.80.
  • Griffin Lajoie swept both backstroke events on the men's side to continue his dominance in the stroke. The Toronto native won the 100 yard back by laying down a 51.44 and grabbed the victory in the 200 yard event with a time of 1:54.19.
  • James Misto rounded out the victories for the Black and Gold on the day by winning the 100 yard butterfly with his time of 50.58. Misto also picked up a second place finish in the 50 yard butterfly by swimming a 21.03, just .14 shy of first place.
  • Bryant grabbed eight second place finishes, including three from graduate student Gustav Persson and two from junior Conner Lofstrom.

The Bulldogs will compete in their final home meet of the season on Saturday January 20th at 1:00pm when they go head-to-head with Marist on senior day.
