Luna and Buonocore pick up weekly honors

BOSTON - Leo Luna and Christopher Buonocore of the Bryant University men's swimming & diving team were honored with weekly awards by the America East on Tuesday afternoon.

Luna, a distance swimmer, was named the AE Male Swimmer of the Week and Buonocore, a diver, was named the AE Male Diver of the Week.

Luna earned the honor after picking up wins in both the 500 yard and 1000 yard freestyle against UMass. Luna beat out the second place finisher in the 1000 free by just over 18 seconds with his time of 9:37.01 to grab the victory. The junior also swam a 4:41.80 in his win of the 500 free event.

Buonocore picked up his third weekly honor of the season after placing third in both the 1m and 3m dives at UMass. Buonocore dove a 282 in the 1m and a 264 in the 3m. The sophomore was the highest placed finisher for the Bulldogs in both events.

This is the first time this season that Bryant has swept the male weekly honors.

The Black and Gold are back in the pool this weekend (Jan. 20th) for Senior Day as they take on Marist at 1pm in the Chace Pool.
