Bryant alum Dana Parziale wins 2016 PwC Cayman Open

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Prior Bryant University men's tennis standout Dana Parziale was named singles champion at the 2016 PwC Cayman Open at the Cayman Islands Tennis Club this past weekend.

Parziale won in straight sets in the championship match, defeating Karl Hale, 6-4, 6-4. He also found wins in men's doubles play, 6-4, 6-3, as well as mixed doubles, 8-4.

"It's feels great," Parziale said afterward to Cayman27 News. "It's a good start to my year. I usually don't get to play too many tournaments throughout the year, so it's good to start the year off with a win.  I'm hoping to keep playing in some more tournaments this year, maybe some international events. This is a good jumping off point for the rest of the year."

Parziale, a senior during the 2013-14 season, was one the most prolific players in Bryant men's tennis history, helping to lead the Bulldogs to their first-ever Northeast Conference Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance. The Pinehurst, N.C. native finished his career with over 160 combined wins in his four seasons in Smithfield, including an NEC-best 25-13 overall singles mark at the No. 1 spot as a senior.

"The winningest Bulldog of all time just needs to compete," said head coach Ron Gendron about Parziale's post-Bryant performance.
