Bulldogs face No. 32 NC State and No. 55 South Carolina, Sunday in Raleigh

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – With a challenging task ahead, the Bryant University men's tennis team travels to Raleigh, N.C. to take on No. 32 North Carolina State and No. 55 South Carolina, on Sunday.

"It has always been my goal to schedule the best competition that we can," said head coach Ron Gendron.

The Bulldogs (2-3) first take on the Gamecocks (4-2), who are coming off back-to-back wins against Georgia Tech, 5-2, and The Citadel, 7-0. The Southeast Conference squad finished tenth in the conference last season, before losing, 4-1, to No. 7 Louisiana State.

"We are excited because we have never faced an SEC school," said Gendron. "Everything we've read about South Carolina's tennis program is impressive and we look forward to the competition".

The Bulldogs will face the Wolfpack for the second year in a row, after losing 4-0 to the then No. 36 squad in the country last season. In their first meeting, three matches went unfinished and the Black and Gold found one win in doubles play, as the Bryant duo of Zachary Morris and Ernesto Arguello took down Beck Bond and Austin Powell, 8-6.

The Wolfpack enters the contest on a two-game losing streak, falling to No. 10 North Carolina, 4-2, and were swept, 7-0, by now No. 17 Oklahoma State.

"The challenge is definitely not something that is going to intimidate us but it's something we can build on in looking forward to a successful season," said Gendron.

The Bulldogs begin play against South Carolina at 9 a.m. and face North Carolina State at 4 p.m. Fans can follow along with the live stats and live broadcast of both matches at bryantbulldogs.com.
