Michael Plutt earns second-straight NEC Rookie of the Week nod

SMITHIFILD, R.I. – Freshman Michael Plutt (Weston, Fla.) of the Bryant University men's tennis team was named Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for the second-straight time, as announced by the league on Tuesday.

Plutt was deemed the conference's standout rookie after going 2-0 over the weekend in Bryant's home opener against Fairleigh Dickinson, assisting the Bulldogs in a 1-0 start in league play.

Alongside sophomore Nick Lamart (Raleigh, N.C.), Plutt recorded his first win of day in No. 1 doubles, trumping the Knights duo, 6-4. The freshman defeated Diogo Garnel, 6-4, 7-6 (3), at No. 4 singles, helping Bryant to a 5-2 series mark over last year's NEC Championship competitor. Plutt is now 8-5 on the year in singles and 9-4 in doubles play.
