With undefeated league records, men's and women's tennis earn first place seeds in NEC tournament

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's and women's tennis teams look to reclaim their league titles, earning first place seeds in the upcoming Northeast Conference Championship Tournament, beginning April 22 in West Windsor, N.J.

Under the direction of three-time NEC Coach of the Year Ron Gendron, Bryant men's tennis is in the hunt for its third consecutive NEC championship. The Bulldogs ended the regular season a perfect 3-0 against league opposition, including a 5-2 win over Fairleigh Dickinson, the tourney's second seed. The Bulldogs have edged the Knights, 4-3, in a pair of classic NEC title matches the last two years.

On the women's side, Bryant hopes to secure the program's second NEC title. Barbabra Cilli, the reigning NEC Coach of the Year, led the Bulldogs to a 4-0 conference regular season mark. The Bulldogs collected victories over second-seeded Fairleigh Dickinson (4-3) and third-seeded Sacred Heart (5-2) over the last month. A year ago, Bryant posted a 4-0 win over LIU Brooklyn in the championship final.

The tournament will be contested over three days in a single elimination format, beginning April 22 in the Garden state.
