Four Bulldogs compete at Harvard Invite over the weekend, finish 3-9

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's tennis team had a number of players gain some experience this fall at the Harvard Invitational, where the team competed against Harvard and Boston University over the weekend.

"This was a micro event to get some guys extra work," said head coach Ron Gendron. "I was very pleased with their effort and attitude."

Sophomore Scott Plutt (Weston, Fla.) recorded the team's best finish at 2-2, including a 6-4, 7-6 win over BU's Mario Sandoval. The sophomore also teamed up with senior John Templeman (Midland, Mich.) for a 6-3 edge over Harvard's Samuel Beren and Logan Weber.

Senior Oliver Welsh (San Diego, Calif.) also captured a singles victory against BU, defeating Marc Sable, 7-5, 6-4.

"Scott's win in singles win big and overall he had a solid weekend," said Gendron. "Oliver's victory on Saturday was a solid win against a very good opponent."
