Kuhar and Argentini earn final NEC weekly recognitions

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University men's tennis redshirt sophomore Matt Kuhar (Smithfield, R.I.) and freshman Guido Argentini (Boca Raton, Fla.) topped off the team's regular season success with the season's last NEC Player of the Week and NEC Rookie of the Week honors, respectively.

Kuhar ended the regular season as the NEC's most decorated player with two NEC Player of the Week honors to go along with his two NEC Player of the Month accolades. Last Friday, the redshirt sophomore rolled to a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles over Quinnipiac's Kei Ezaka, the 2016 MAAC Player of the Year. He followed with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Sacred Heart's Cory Seltman as Bryant improved to 4-0 in NEC play with a 6-1 conquest of the Pioneers. Kuhar enters the postseason with a 17-6 singles mark, including a 10-3 record at No. 1 singles and perfect 4-0 slate against league rivals.

Argentini put a bow on his impressive regular season with two victories in No. 4 flight singles play last week. He battled to a 6-3, 3-6, 10-3 win over Quinnipiac's Austin Yannone on Friday and a 6-4, 6-0 win over Sacred Heart's Bryant Einstoss on Saturday. With the two victories, Argentini ran his win streak to five and pushed his season victory total to 11 to rank fourth on the Bulldogs. The Boca Raton, Fla. product was also named NEC Rookie of the Month last October.

The top-seeded Bulldogs will be looking for their fourth-consecutive conference crown when the NEC Championships commence on Friday at Mercer County Park in West Windsor, N.J.
