Ortiz-Garcia brothers show well at Davis Cup
SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University men's tennis brothers Jorge Ortiz-Garcia (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) and Jorge Isaias Ortiz-Garcia (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) put forth a very strong effort last weekend at the Davis Cup.
Competing for their home country of Puerto Rico, the Ortiz-Garcia brothers faced off against Bolivia in the Group II Americas Playoffs.
Ortiz-Garcia opened the competition with a singles match against Federico Zeballos, falling 6-1, 6-2. He finished the match 29-of-45 (64%) on his first serve and was a perfect 16-for-16 on second serves.
The two brothers then got a chance to play together in doubles, falling 6-2, 6-4. Jorge and Froggy put 90 percent of their first serves in play and finished the match with two aces.
Jorge and Froggy will now rejoin the Bulldogs as they look to capture their fifth-straight Northeast Conference Championship.
