Men's Tennis hosts Bentley, sends 8 to Brown Invitational

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's tennis team opens its 2018 fall season this weekend with the Brown Invitational as well as a home match with Bentley.

Bryant will spend Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Providence, while the Falcons will visit Smithfield on Friday afternoon.

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • This will be the first of five competition weekends for the Black and Gold this fall.
  • Head coach Ron Gendron enters his 13th season at Bryant with 15 returning players from the 2018 Northeast Conference Championship team.
  • Kuhar is the only Bulldog to have competed so far this fall. He played in the Oracle ITA Masters last week in Malibu, California.
  • Kuhar posted wins over the No. 30 and No. 96 ranked players in the country on his way to the quarterfinals.
  • Dong returns as the reigning NEC Rookie of the Year. He went 12-13 last season, posting a 3-2 mark in the fall.
  • Jakubowski was an All-NEC First Team singles and doubles player last year after going 16-15 in singles play and 23-11 in doubles action. He served as Kuhar's doubles partner for most of the season.
  • Plutt earned second team honors after going 7-4 in the spring. He did not compete last fall.
  • Both Pertile and junior Jorge Isaias Ortiz-Garcia (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) were All-NEC Second Team selections in doubles play.
  • Argentini has won 16 matches in his two-year career and was an All-NEC First Teamer as a freshman.
  • Bryant will have five players making their collegiate debuts this weekend.
