Bulldogs pick up four wins in weekend invitationals
SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- The Bryant University men's tennis team picked up four wins in the Bryant Invitational and Bryant Senior Day Festival over the weekend.
How it Happened (Saturday)
- Sophomores Trent Massam (Wellington, New Zealand) and Philip Belmatch (Staten Island, N.Y.), and freshmen Andrew Forchetti (Orange, Conn.) and Alexander Schou (Holte, Denmark) competed for the Bulldogs.
- Massam and Belmatch dropped a pair of doubles matches, 6-3 and 6-4.
- Forchetti and Schou lost their first match, 6-4, but rebounded to win the second doubles match, 6-1.
How it Happened (Sunday)
- Bryant honored its four seniors prior to the matches. The Bulldogs held their senior day in the fall due to a spring schedule that doesn't include a home outdoor match.
- The Bulldogs went 3-3 on the afternoon.
- Michael Plutt (Weston, Fla.) opened the day with a 6-2, 6-1 victory, while brother Scott Plutt (Weston, Fla.) also posted a straight-set victory, 6-3, 6-3.
- In doubles, Mike Plutt and Artur Jakubowski (Dallas, Texas) teamed up to earn a 6-4 victory.
