BROOKVILLE, NY - #8 UMass-Lowell gave the #6 Bryant Bulldogs a few opportunities, and the Bulldogs jumped on them to capture a 2-0 win and trip to the NCAA's Northeast Regional final game with C.W. Post. Junior pitcher Janine Enos (Wareham, Mass.) won her fourth game of the NCAA Tournament, tossing a complete game shutout.

Jennifer Serrano (Stoneham, Mass.) came up with another clutch hit to break a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth. Pitcher Kristen Mahoney dropped a seemingly routine pop fly to load the bases and extend the inning. On the next pitch, Serrano singled in Jessica Valentini (Cliffside Park, NJ). Mahoney then retired pinch-hitter Anne Dobmeier (Buffalo, NY) on a soft liner to third.

The Bulldogs scored again an inning later, when Mahoney threw a wild pitch on the fourth ball of an intentional walk to Bryant slugger Amanda Wilbur (Lakeville, Mass.). Lindsay Connor (West Haven, CT) was able to beat the throw home after singling to open the inning.

Mahoney, the 2007 Northeast-10 Conference Tournament MVP, was tough all day but undone by those two crucial mistakes. Mahoney also popped up to end UML's best scoring threat, a bases loaded situation in the sixth inning. The senior captain went 5.2 innings, allowing just one earned run.

Enos was better this afternoon. In a rematch of the opening round of the NE-10 Conference Tournament, Enos shut down the Riverhawks on five hits with seven strikeouts.

With the loss, the Riverhawks were eliminated from NCAA competition.

The Bulldogs will now face #2 seed C.W. Post this afternoon at approximately 3:30pm. The Bulldogs will need to defeat the Pioneers twice to advance to the program's first ever trip to the College World Series.  The Pioneers are 3-0 in the tournament, and need to only beat the Bulldogs once to advance.
