SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Despite holding a 6-2 lead heading into the seventh inning, the Bryant University softball team fell to Boston College, 7-6, Sunday night at Plymouth North High School.

The Bulldogs (8-19) allowed the Eagles (15-13) to score four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to knot the score, 6-6, before pushing across the game-winning run on a Tatiana Cortez game-winning single in the bottom of the eighth to secure the 7-6 comeback.

Junior second baseman Liana Ogata (Tustin, Calif.) went 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored, while classmate Elle Madsen (Wheat Ridge, Colo.) drove in four of Bryant's six runs to lead the Bulldogs at the dish. Senior Madeline Velasquez (Los Angeles, Calif.) collected an RBI and scored a pair of runs and junior Hayley Bottino (Canyon Country, Calif.) helped herself, going 1-4 with an RBI.

In the circle, Bottino allowed seven runs on 15 hits and five walks in seven innings of work while BC starter Allyson Frei allowed four runs on two hits in just 1.2 innings of work. In relief, Jessica Dreswick went 6.1 innings, allowing only two unearned runs on four hits to improve to 2-0 on the season.
