Bulldogs fall to Brown, 2-0, Wednesday afternoon

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University softball team fell to Brown, 2-0, in a weather-shortened game Wednesday afternoon at Conaty Park.

The offensive struggles continued for the Bulldogs (10-23) as Brown's Katie Orona held the hosts to just two hits in five innings of work to go along with seven strikeouts to lead her team to a 2-0 victory.

After two scoreless innings, the Bears took advantage of a pair of walks in the top of the third to set up Annie McGregor who sent a two-run single through the left side of the infield, accounting for all the offense on the day.

Bryant managed to muster just two hits in the contest, singles from sophomore outfielders Haylee Haas (Moorpark, Calif.) and Taylor Burger (Killingworth, Conn.), struggling to find baserunners.

Freshman Logan Paul (Shaker Heights, Ohio) allowed two runs on four hits and four walks in 4.1 innings of work, while junior Hayley Bottino (Canyon Country, Calif.) gave up a walk in two-thirds of an inning in relief.

Looking ahead, Bryant will look to snap its three-game skid over the weekend when they welcome a pair of Northeast Conference foes for doubleheaders, hosting Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday (12/2 p.m.) and Robert Morris on Sunday (12/2 p.m.).
